An MHK is to ask the Chief Minister about an article recently published in the New York Times accusing the Isle of Man of helping Iranian ships to trade whilst evading UN sanctions.

David Cannan will ask Tony Brown about the article in the House of Keys next week.

The article suggests a web of shell companies have been set up to mask the trade, some of which are registered in the Island.

It goes on to suggest these were set up with the help of the Chairman of Ramsey Commissioners Captain Nigel Malpass.

Mr Malpass says in an interview with the publication that he was once involved with one of the companies, but has since disassociated himself.

The House of Keys sits on Tuesday next week.
