The Chief Minister has denied allegations that the Isle of Man has been helping ships from Iran to evade sanctions from the United Nations.

Tony Brown told the House of Keys that the Island has been acting responsibly, and that the Isle of Man is subject to the same rules as the United Kingdom.

An article was recently published in the New York Times, stating that companies which help Iranian ships escape sanctions are registered in the Isle of Man.

It went on to say Chairman of Ramsey Commissioners Nigel Malpass helped the companies set up on Island.

Mr Brown says it's disappointing that such prominent papers publish stories like this [play clip]
