AWOL Manx soldier to be taken back to regiment

A soldier absent without leave from the army has appeared in court.

19 year old Jonathon Gartland of Douglas admitted being AWOL from 26 Royal Artillery based in Germany.

The prosecution said an escort is on its way to the Island to take Gartland back to his regiment.

He'll be kept in police custody until the escort arrives
