Race winner demoted for ignoring flags

Thu, 02 Sep 2010

The winner of yesterday's Junior Manx Grand Prix race has been demoted to third.

Simon Fulton was given a time penalty for not observing waved yellow flags at Signpost Corner.

Manx rider Dan Sayle was taken to hospital following a collision at Signpost, but was later discharged.

Michael Sweeney is promoted to first place, with Wayne Kirwan second.

The race was red flagged due to the fatal collision at Alpine.

A rider, who wasn't named, was fined during TT for continuing at race pace under waved yellow's, whilst marshals dealt with a fatal crash at Ballagarey.

Following this incident there have been calls for harsher penalties for those caught breaking the rules
