Election candidate consultation underway

The Council of Ministers have launched a public consultation on proposed new rules on the funding of election candidates.

Under the proposals candidates will have to disclose all donations received and anonymous donations will not be allowed.

There is also a spending cap being suggested to limit the amount of money a candidate can spend on an election campaign.

Any comments on the proposals should be submitted to the Chief Secretary's office.
