Hoax caller target electricity customers

Wed, 26 Jan 2011

Hoax callers have been targetting Manx Electricity Authority customers on the Island.

The MEA and the Office of Fair Trading are concerned by callers contacting residents to ask for the serial number from the electricity meter, before telling them they've been overcharged.

The caller also asks to visit the property.

The OFT is advising the public not to let the caller into their home, and to ask for identification if someone does turn up.
