Drink drivers not getting the message

Sat, 29 Jan 2011

A woman from Ballasalla has appeared in court charged with failure to provide a blood specimen.

Karen Craine of Clagh Vane was stopped by Police on Christmas day and gave breath samples ranging from 73 to 96 mg but refused to allow a police doctor to take a blood sample for evidence.

Deputy High Baliff Alistair Montgomorie sentenced her to 200 hours community service and disqualified her from driving for 3 years.

In conclusion Mr Montgomorie said if it wasn't for her previous good character she would definitely have been sent to prison.

Mark Britton is from the Roads Policing unit and he tells us People still aren't getting the message.
