Up to 22 jobs could be lost in the Island's public transport engineering section.

Community, Culture and Leisure Minister David Cretney says a period of informal consultation has begun, to find ways for the Department to save money.

If savings can't be found, two groups of 11 could lose their jobs.

The subject was raised by North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson in the House of Keys as a matter of urgent public importance.

Mr Cretney says the 34 workers who could potentially lose their jobs have been informed to allow them to make plans [play clip]
