The Chief Minister says compulsory job losses within Government can't always be avoided.

Tony Brown has been outlining the Government's policy on redundancies in Tynwald.

Mr Brown says all alternatives are considered before posts are cut, such as natural wastage, redeployment within the public sector and re-training.

North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson believes the Departments of Home Affairs and Community, Culture and Leisure have breached the guidelines, with both announcing potential job cuts in the near future

Mr Brown says he's seen no evidence of this, and that sometimes redundancies are the only option [play clip]
