Seven people in court in connection with alleged voting scam

Seven people have appeared in court accused of being involved in a voting scam during the Douglas East by-election.

 

55 year old Charles Lewin from Crosby, 24 year old Kerry Rothwell and 25 year old Catherine Liggins, who're both from Onchan are charged with six counts of conspiracy.

 

38 year old Gail Corrin from Cronk y Berry is accused of three conspiracy offences.

 

19 year old Marc Bonser, 21 year old Mark Weir and Geoffery Callister, who's 50, are each charged with several offences of forging documents with intent to deceive.

 

The cases were adjourned for four weeks when the defendants will appear before Magistrates.

 

The matter will be eventually be dealt with in the Court of General Gaol.
