Crowds look on as Manx man dies at stunt show

Tue, 26 Apr 2011

An inquiry is underway after a daredevil from the Isle of Man died at a stunt show in England.

Safety nets collapsed as Matt Cranch was fired 30 to 40 feet into the air from a human cannon.

Hundreds of people in the crowd in Kent witnessed him fall to the ground with apparent injuries.

The 24 year old was pronounced dead in hospital.

He performed under the name 'Matt the Manx Crank' and was part of the Scott May Daredevil Show which tours the UK.

Future performances have been cancelled.

The show's website describes the human cannonball act.
