Chief Minister to go for Tynwald President job

Tue, 28 Jun 2011

A new President of Tynwald will be elected next month and so far only one person has announced their intention to stand.

Chief Minister Tony Brown has confirmed he will be going for the job.

Noel Cringle, who held the post for 11 years, retired recently.

A new president will be elected by politicians at the July sitting of Tynwald.

It's unclear at the moment what will happen with the Chief Minister's job if Mr Brown is successful.

A new Chief Minister may not have to be chosen until a new administration is in place after September's general election.
