A Minister seeking re-election in September says it was a sad day for democracy when the Legislative Council dismissed a Bill which would have allowed the public to vote for MLCs in the future.

Martyn Quayle highlighted constitutional reform as one of his priorities during the last election.

The MHK for Middle wanted eight elected members of the Legislative Council to represent a constituency.

However, the Bill was altered in the House of Keys, and thrown out by LegCo.
