Diseased trees to be felled

Mon, 03 Oct 2011

Around 9,000 square metres of plantation will be felled after diseased trees were discovered.

Phytophthora is a pathogen which can kill or damage a range of trees and plants.

It's been discovered at two plantations - Colden in Baldwin and in Ballaugh.

The affected areas have been closed off to the public.

It's likely they'll be shut until around April next year.

Northern Area Forester for DEFA Jason Bolt says the precautions have been put in place to stop the disease spreading.[Full interview below]
