Part of Maughold's coast is to be designated as an Area of Special Scientific Interest.

The status gives the Cliffs and Brooghs protection for coastal birds and recognition of the site's importance.

The area is 53 hectares in total and provides breeding sites for 35 species of bird.

Documents on the designation can be obtained from the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture
