Police intercept suspect packages

Tests are being carried on a mystery substance found in two suspect packages which were sent to local finance companies.

Police intercepted the parcels at the Post Office last Friday before they reached their intended targets.

They contained items soaked in an unidentified liquid.

Officers say the incident was quickly contained and there was no risk to the public.

The packages were similar to some received by some financial institutions in 2009.

They were sent from Algeria.

Police Search Advisor Kevin Williams says nobody has come to any harm from handling the packages.[Play media file below]
