A quick-thinking Douglas school teacher has saved the life of a young boy - just a day after she completed first aid training.

Seven year old Richmond Gabriel, who goes to St Mary's, was eating sweets with his friends at hometime last Wednesday - when one got stuck in his throat.

He began choking and managed to get the attention of Deputy Head Jo Callow.

Jo had recently been on a St John Ambulance training course.

She said the skills she learnt proved to be invaluable.[play media file below]
