Hercules aircraft to land at Ronaldsway

Tue, 20 Dec 2011

A move to make sure shop shelves are full over Christmas is good news for shoppers...and plane spotters.

Following recent disruption to freight shipments to the Island, one local store has arranged for two huge ex-military aircraft to bring festive goods to the Island.

Problems with sailings left some shelves bare in several Supermarkets over the last few weeks.

Although repairs to the Ben-my-Chree have now been carried out, the Douglas branch of Marks and Spencer isn't taking any chances.

The 'Hercules' aircraft hired to bring in cargo on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning will be among the largest planes ever to land at Ronaldsway.

A spokesman for Rendevous Handling at the airport expects the arrivals at 8pm tomorrow and 8am the following morning to generate a lot of interest with aircraft enthusiasts.
