AN MHK is donating the salary she receives for being a political member of a Government department to help fund the setting up of a Manx Patients Association.

Douglas South member Kate Beecroft says she hadn't budgeted for the 30% increase in pay by joining the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture, as Liberal Vannin politicians haven't previously accepted Government roles.

Mrs Beecroft is supporting the formation of the association, and will be donating her salary until the body is self funding.

She hopes the organisation will act as a middle ground between the Government and the public, giving people somewhere to raise concerns or suggest improvements, but also helping Government spread its message.

Anyone interested in receiving updates from the Manx Patients Association should contact Mrs Beecroft at her home address, on 853352 or by emailing kate.beecroft@liberalvannin.org.
