Team Sky are to assess Mark Cavendish today after a heavy crash whilst racing in Belgium.

The Manx cyclist was complaining of shoulder pain after he fell when another rider's water bottle hit his front wheel.

The team says he seemed otherwise ok but he's been sent for an echo scan on the shoulder.

On his Twitter feed after the crash, the road race world champion said everyone should have to take a written and practical test before being allowed to race.

He says the bottle came from one of the riders at Russian outfit Katusha when he was 150 kilometres from the end of the 200 kilometre race.
