Government propose £25 million investment in Pinewood Studios

The Isle of Man could form an allegiance with one of the biggest film studios in the world.

The government is looking to acquire a stake of up to 19.9 per cent in Pinewood Shepperton plc – the studio behind the Harry Potter and James Bond movies.

Subject to Tynwald approval the investment from government would be in the region of £25 million, with the money coming from reserves.

It will mean the studios would be obligated to source and advise the Island on film investment opportunities for its separate £25 million Media Development Fund, which up to this point had been managed by CinemaNX.
