A public debate has been organised concerning new criminal justice laws that could be introduced in the Isle of Man.

Next Monday the Positive Action Group will look at the new proposed criminal justice bill which would bring in new legislation to give police increased powers.

PAG say the proposed bill includes many contentious powers already rejected by the public, and the House of Keys, and demands close public scrutiny.

Debating the issue will be civil liberties campaigner Tristram Llewellyn Jones and Home Affairs Minister Juan Watterson.

Speaking to ENERGY FM Mr Watterson said he believed the new proposals were vital:
