Busy night for Fire and Rescue crews

Sat, 23 Jun 2012

It’s been a busy time for the Fire and Rescue Service and the Department of Infrastructure who’ve been dealing with flooding.

Yesterday’s non-stop rain caused problems on the roads and at properties in a number of places.

Fire crews in Douglas alone responded to numerous call-outs to flooded homes and businesses yesterday and overnight.

DOI staff dealt with standing water on the roads and cleared several fallen trees which blocked some routes, including Saddle Road in Douglas and King Edward Road in Onchan.

There are still active flood warnings for the Island today, with more rain forecast.

Minor localized flooding is likely in some places and drivers should be mindful of standing water on the roads.
