Community shocked over thefts from Jurby Church

Police in Ramsey say the local community has been shocked by the thefts of religious items from Jurby Church.

Between June 28th and 30th a window was broken and two silver collection plates and a medieval style chalice were taken.

The chalice – which has since been located – is a replica of an original one which is currently in the Manx Museum.

A 22 year old Ramsey man has been arrested and interviewed in connection with this incident and has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Sergeant Andy Kneen from Ramsey Police Station said the thefts had sparked a big reaction:
