Water supplies back to normal says authority

Members of the public can now drink water straight from the tap after the Isle of Man Water and Sewerage Authority lifted a boil water notice.

Since Sunday people have been asked to boil all water used for drinking or cooking after reservoir water which is fed to the Douglas treatment works was found to contain high levels of sediment.

It’s believed to have been caused by heavy rainfall last weekend.

The problem has now been rectified and investigations have confirmed that the drinking water quality is of a satisfactory standard.

Speaking to ENERGY FM, Chief Executive of the Authority, Peter Winstanley said at no point was the water “contaminated”:
