One World Centre says it expected budget slash

The Director of the One World Centre says the news that government is slashing the organisation’s budget is disappointing but expected.

The educational Manx charity has lost around half of its £30,000 income which was provided by the Department of Education and Children as part of a service user agreement.

Following the budget in February the department said it would be ceasing grants to some groups it works closely with – this has also included the Manx Wildlife Trust.

The money was used to fund in school activities for children and the training of teachers to encourage and raise awareness of global, economic, social and political issues.
