Island's Marine Plan up for discussion

Tue, 04 Sep 2012

The public's views about how to progress the Island's Marine Plan are being sought by the Manx Government.

A statement of ‘public participation’ has been released by the Department of Infrastructure to find out what locals think about the project.

Various marine activities have created a high demand for sea space and government says it needs a well thought-out strategy.

The department’s plan aims to involve all local interested parties to comment and question the project.

It’s set to consider social, economic and environmental issues in its quest to protect the Island’s waters.

Infrastructure Minister David Cretney says the Isle of Man’s industry is built around the role of the sea and it’s important to gauge public opinion.
