Quarter of a million owed in rent arrears

Sat, 24 Nov 2012

New figures showing that the Island’s housing authorities are owed almost a quarter of a million pounds in unpaid rent do not give the full picture.

That’s according to the Director of Housing who’s spoken out after statistics were released for the second quarter of this year.

They show that across the 17 authorities there’s a current deficit of just over £244,000.

Last year the total for the whole year from people not paying rent on time was £136,000.
