Emergency services from around the Island were called into action on Friday after a fire in a derelict guest house.

It happened just after 10pm in a property on Bay View Road in Port Erin.

Fire crews from Port Erin, Douglas and Castletown tackled the well established blaze which is believed to have started in the basement.

The building suffered significant smoke and structural damage leading to emergency services staying on scene for nearly five hours.

Police are currently investigating the cause of the fire and say they’d like to speak to young people who are known to use the property.

Anyone with information can contact Police Headquarters or Crimestoppers.
