Warning to those targeting greenlanes

Police say there are harsh penalties for anyone caught placing dangerous objects on greenway tracks.

Pieces of wood pierced with sharp nails have recently been discovered on a public path used for recreation in the west of the Island.

The use of greenway roads can be a sensitive issue and it’s believed the objects have been left there on purpose.

Police say that until now it’s been a local problem confined to one area, between the Switchback and the Staarvey Road, but they want to draw it to the attention of the wider public.

PC Ian Scott says the law treats these tracks the same as any other public road:
