New fine proposals to go before Tynwald

Up to 30 new fixed-penalty offences are being proposed by the Department of Infrastructure.

Plans to introduce the new restrictions will be brought before Tynwald next week.

Among them are offences for ‘furious driving’, failing to comply with school crossing patrols and for careless or inconsiderate cycling.

If approved they’d come into force from April.

However the director of highways Richard Pearson says the department won’t see a single penny from these fines and that it’s merely a way of saving legal time:
