Legislation will aim to improve living conditions in certain accommodation

A consultation is being published today to help shape legislation that aims to improve the living standards of some multiple occupation residencies.

As it stands there are a large number of old guest houses and hotels being used for this purpose and although seen as essential they are classed as illegal.

The Department of Environment Food and Agriculture has the powers to make such accommodation legal provided they meet a particular set of standards.
