Horse meat scandal to be raised in Tynwald

The Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister will be asked today what his department has done to reassure the public following the horse meat scandal.

North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson will quiz Phil Gawne in Tynwald.

It’s after a number of beef products in the UK and Europe were found to contain horse meat.

The scandal has highlighted the importance of food traceability and buying local as a situation like this couldn’t affect Manx meat due to stringent rules and processes in place.

Bride farmer Kevin Kinrade says it’s important to know where your food comes from:
