Community comes together to help young cancer sufferer

A 10-year-old boy who has cancer is said to be “overwhelmed” by the response to a fundraising event which has been organised for him.

Alfie Quilliam’s friends and family are holding a family fun day at the Douglas Legion Hall at 12pm tomorrow which will include stalls, games and a raffle and auction.

Alfie, who attends Fairfield Junior School, has been having treatment at Alder Hey after doctors discovered he had a tumour on his brain.

Tomorrow’s event, which is open to everyone, will raise money for his family to help pay with things like travel costs.
