Tue, 12 Mar 2013

Almost 300,000 trips were made to the Isle of Man by visitors last year.

Figures from the 2012 Passenger Survey show that the number of visits stood at 294,471 – virtually unchanged from the year before.

Of the trips made just over 100,000 were for leisure, staying in paid accommodation, 40 per cent of people stayed with friends and relatives and 65,000 trips were for business reasons.

The report also shows that the number of trips made by residents travelling off Island fell from 341,000 to 335,000.

A full report showing how long people stayed for and how much money was spent will be published at the end of the month.
