Major shakeup of prescription and dental charges for over 60s?

Thu, 14 Mar 2013

People could be means tested in the future over prescription and dental charges.

That’s according to the Department of Health which says that’s an option being considered as the government takes into account people’s ability to pay.

Yesterday it was announced that the department will go to Tynwald to try and bring age related exemptions for prescriptions and dental charges in line with the state pension age.

This would affect men and women over the age of 60 who currently receive these services for free.

If approved the new rules would come into force in June, with the department saying it would provide a fairer and more equitable system.
