Chief Minister answers Sefton bailout critics

The Chief Minister has strongly denied government’s financial support of the struggling Sefton Group was down to past and present MHK’s involvement with the company.

It was announced on Friday that they’d be giving them a £1.3 million loan, and £3.2 million for the purchase of the Middlemarch car park site in Douglas.

It will enable the company to continue with their comprehensive programme of debt reduction, started in 2010.

Chief Minister Bell says current Sefton Chairman and one time Chief Minister Sir Miles Walker, and former MD of Sefton Group and current MHK Chris Robertshaw had no sway in the decision:
