Motorists told not to film themselves speeding

Motorists who post footage of themselves on the internet speeding or driving dangerously could have it used against them in court.

That’s the threat from the police who say they are monitoring websites for the evidence.

Footage recovered from people’s vehicle mounted cameras has also been used in the Coroner’s Court before to determine what’s happened in the event of a fatality.

Officers in unmarked cars and on motorbikes are currently patrolling the roads to gather evidence of poor and antisocial riding and driving.

Inspector Derek Flint says people who don’t respect the roads should be prepared for the consequences:
