Boundary changes given the go-ahead

Wed, 19 Jun 2013

The political make up of the Isle of Man is set to change after Tynwald Members voted in favour of changing the boundaries.

It means the Island will now be split into 12 equal constituencies - each represented by two MHKs.

The plans were drawn up by an independent Boundary Review Committee which was aiming to make things more democratic and replace the mix of one, two and three representatives.  .

However not all politicians were happy with the decision.

Rushen MHK Phil Gawne took to Twitter to express his disappointment questioning where the evidence was to show this option was better than an alternative.
