Record numbers for Ben my Chree

Almost four million people and over one million cars have been transported on the Ben-my-Chree in the last 15 years.

The Steam Packet is marking the vessel’s milestone after buying it in 1998 for £25 million.

The boat is the most used in the company’s history and has also carried enough freight to reach Douglas to Liverpool, and back again, more than 20 times.

Chief executive Mark Woodward says despite the ship’s great track record discussions about the future fleet are underway:
