Four members spent Sunday at Steeple Rifle Club, near Dundee competing in the Gagie Grand Prix. Michael Duncalf, John Wood and Andy Potter met up with junior shooter IoM Sports Aid Scholarship recipient, Ben Kelly who is at University in Edinburgh and the posted results show success for all. The quartet were competing in Class B and in the initial qualification match, Andy Potter managed to claim second slot, just a single point behind the leader but four points ahead of third placed Duncalf. Full results were:- 2 – Potter 97, 99, 99, 99, 96, 98 = 588, 3 – Duncalf 94, 97, 97, 99, 99, 98 = 584, 9 – Ben Kelly 99, 95, 95, 93, 96, 96 = 574 and 13 – John Wood 93, 96, 98, 96, 96, 92 = 571. Both Potter and Duncalf qualified for the elimination match where a different recording of scores is used and both were a little disappointed with their result. Duncalf claimed eleventh slot with 101.3, 103.2, 102.7, 101.0, 103.0, 101.6 = 612.8 and Potter fell a little to thirteenth recording 99.9, 100.4, 102.8, 101.5, 102.5, 103.2 = 610.3. Unfortunately, neither managed to qualify for the final match of eight shooters.

Ben Kelly finished the day in second position in the Junior (under 21) Class with his score of 574 and in the Club Pairs handicap event, Potter and Wood with a handicap of 16 finished in third position recording 1175 beating Duncalf and Kelly also on a handicap of 16, into fourth slot by a single point. I understand the weather was magnificent with wall to wall sunshine and the four were received enthusiastically by the local club.
