New custody block could cost millions

A new custody block which could be built at Police Headquarters in Douglas will cost £3 million.

The Department of Home Affairs has submitted a planning application as part of a plan to bring all detention facilities into one location.

It also says the current custody unit, which is 40 years old, has reached the end of its operational life. 

If the proposals get the go-ahead building work could start next spring.
