Ayre Clay Target Club hosted the sixth and final round of the Penketh-Millar sponsored English Skeet league at Blue Point on Sunday.

Eighteen shooters took part, including three visitors from the Commonwealth Shooting Federation (European Division) competition; the clay shooting part of which was held at the Ayres ground.

Visiting Welshman Richard Stepney, Scotsman Ben Wilson and local shooter Marty Kneen all tied for first place, missing two targets for 48/50.

Dave Corlett, junior shooter Michael Cross and Keith Jones were one clay behind on 47.

The league was won by Stan Cross from Nick Dutnall with Marty Kneen finishing third.

Results: A/B Class: 1, Marty Kneen 48; 2= Dave Corlett and Keith Jones 47.

C Class: 1=, Michael Cross and Ted Kermeen 47; 3, Giulio Fabrizio 42.

There is no competition at Blue Point this week but there will be open practice for English Skeet and Down the Line on Sunday morning from 10.15 am.

Finally, many thanks to the small but willing band of volunteers for making the International competition a roaring success.
