Hundreds of trees to be cut down

Mon, 07 Oct 2013

Government says there's no option but to cut down hundreds of larch trees because of disease.

Phytophthora ramorum has now infected half of all larch trees on the Island and can spread to other species of trees.

The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture says there's no other treatment than felling.

Thousands of trees have been cut down in the UK over the past three years.
