Crackdown on teeth whitening

Fri, 11 Oct 2013

It's now illegal for people to carry out teeth whitening unless they are a registered dental professional.

The General Dental Council has ruled that the procedure is the business of dentistry and therefore should only by carried out by dentists, hygienists or dental therapists.

It’s now warning beauty salons that they will be at risk of prosecution if they continue to offer the treatment and aren’t registered with the GDC.
