Mixed Leagues

League 1

First game of the night was first men’s which saw a win for the Vikings pairing of Matthew Nicholson and David Buck 22/20 21/11 over Ian Hemensley and Chris Bulley. Second women’s was a close match with Vikings Emma Nicholson and Charlotte Dougherty despite being down in the first game edging it 23/21 against Steph Foxton and Becky Hands and it was a similar story in the second game with the Vikings pairing winning 25/23. The best match of the night was second mens where the Fencibles junior pairing of Joe Burrows and Ciaran Drew faced the more experienced Vikings pairing of Mark Falconer and Andrew Nicholson (fresh our of retirement!). Fencibles took the first game 21/19, the second game saw the Vikings pair get into their rhythm to take it 21/11, with the third going all the way with Burrows and Drew edging it 22/20. Fencibles Alex Bell and Kim Moore at first women’s took the first game 21/11 against Yvonne Irvine and Sam Irvine, with the sisters taking the second game 21/19 before the Fencibles pairing won the third game 21/14.  This left the match 6-4 to Vikings after the level doubles. First mixed was next up and this saw a 21/14 21/8 win for Vikings Matthew Nicholson and Sam Irvine, which was followed up by two more wins for Vikings courtesy of  Andrew Nicholson and Dougherty 22/20 21/9 and  Falconer and Emma Nicholson 21/10 21/14. The final match to be played was second mixed with Burrows and Bell taking the first 21/15 for Fencibles before Buck and Yvonne Irvine fought back to take the second game 21/16. With some good attacking play from Burrows and Bell they won the third game 21/14 to leave the final score 13-6 in Vikings  favour.
