Manx support helps net $16 million for West Africa

Tue, 19 Nov 2013

Manx support to cut illegal fishing in coastal communities in West Africa has helped net $16 million in earnings for the country.

Government has provided a fisheries protection vessel and on-going advice to Sierra Leone - as well as the installation of a satellite monitoring system for the fishing fleet there.

The help has contributed to an estimated 35 per cent increase in local fish landings for the country’s fishermen.
