MHK angry at 'dressed up' privatisation

An MHK has accused the Department of Social Care’s changes to care provision as ‘privatisation dressed up’.

Bill Henderson is angry that the department is looking to externalise a number of services including care homes.

He believes there are other ways to progress change and has accused the department of putting out a message of ‘cold comfort’.

Yesterday in Tynwald he was told that the department’s aim is to engage care providers on the Island to reinvest in social care.

Chief Minister Allan Bell says the department can still protect the vulnerable whilst improving service delivery:
