Campsite could generate thousands

Fri, 29 Nov 2013

A temporary campsite at the NSC over TT will generate a five figure sum for government if approved.

The Department of Community, Culture and Leisure has submitted a planning application for permission to use the grass area in the athletics track next year.

It’s the same application that was submitted and passed this year - if approved it will see access to the track and facilities restricted.

Local sports groups have been informed of the plans and are working with government to minimise disruption – especially for those people training for the Commonwealth Games.

A spokesperson for the department says the venture will raise significantly more than the £500 the track usually generates over the TT period.
