Police praise teenagers after rapist teacher is jailed

Police have praised the bravery of a number of teenage girls who helped secure a conviction against their former teacher.

Yesterday 58-year-old Davoud Taghinejad was sentenced to 15 years in prison after being found guilty of one count of rape and 10 of indecent assault.

The offences were committed against five teenagers between 2011 and 2013.

During sentencing yesterday the Douglas man was also placed on the sex offenders register for an indefinite period.
